http://www.xtranormal.com/

A free web 2.0 tool that allows you to make your own 3d animated movies. You select the scene, you pick your characters, you write the script, you and effects, sound, animation, etc. You can edit your movie by rendering it as you go along. When you are finished and you tell it it's a wrap it post the movie to your xtranormal account and gives you the embed code so you can share.
Below is my first attempt.

Drop.io

Drop.io is a neat site. It allows you to upload files you would like to share with others or with your self. It will allow you to upload almost all formats. Once there you can make the documents private or allow them to be viewed by anyone.

The feature which I like the most is the phone recording. With each account you receive a phone number and an access code. Once you call, yo can make a recording and it is posted to your account as an MP3. You can then listen to it there, download the MP3 or even embed it as I am doing below.

Web 2.0 Tool SlideShare

SlideShare is a web site that allows you to post your PowerPoint presentations. They can then be easily shared with friends and family without the need for the PowerPoint application. This is a great site to facilitate students posting their work at home and using it to present their presentation to the class.

It is the world's largest community for sharing presentations on the web. You can:
  • upload your presentations (ppt, pdf, pps, pot, odp, keynote) and share with others
  • find/download interesting presentations
  • embed them into blogs or websites
  • create a slidecast by linking your slides with audio
And it's completely free.

Example of embedding a powerpoint from slideshare in this blog. On SlideShare I allowed embedding and then when I viewed my presentation I copy the embedding code to this blog using the Edit Html tab.

Web 2.0 Tools

What is the difference between the web you've been use to (web 1.0) and the new web (web 2.0). The bottom line is that now the web is a 'platform' as opposed to the 'medium' it once was. We used to do our work on our desktop computers and then use the web to send it to someone or to post it as a personal web page. Now we do our work ON the web. The platform changed from our desktop computer to the web.

Even more important is that Web 2.0 allows users to create, share, and collaborate.

Watch as we examine several such sites in this presentation.

The Ease of Posting

Today was an extraordinary day. The weather for January was also extraordinary. The temperature nose dived from 63 to 30 in 12 hours accompanied by high winds and rain. Because of the weather my work day also was extraordinary.

With no electricity at school I ended up coming home to work on my Interactive Classroom presentation.

Hopfully the Interactive Classroom will help teachers use the web to support their integration efforts.
